# Why does a Cloudflare page appear?

## Cloudflare provides consistent security

For MASV download links accessed from a web browser, we perform an automated [Cloudflare](https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-challenges/) check (challenge) to ensure your connection is secure. Why? Because browsers and email services use different security mechanisms to block bots and malware scripts, which can result in an inconsistent download experience. Cloudflare provides consistent global protection. MASV download links are secure by design, and when it comes to controlling download permission, you have a number of options, including requiring a [download password](https://help.massive.io/en/how-do-i-password-protect-my-transfer?hsLang=en) or [user authentication](https://help.massive.io/en/how-to-control-who-can-upload-to-a-masv-portal?hsLang=en).

### Troubleshooting

Blocked by Cloudflare? Try the following:

- Temporarily pause ad blocker or VPN software.
- Install and manage transfers through MASV Desktop App.
