How to setup MASV Watch Folders

MASV Watch Folders is a part of the Automations workflow

MASV Watch Folders is a part of the Automations workflow in the MASV App. Please make sure you have the latest version of the app installed. You can download the Desktop app today.

MASV Watch Folders needs all files in their respective folder in the base of the Watch Folder. Watch Folders will not process/send individual files in the Watch Folder itself.

Setting Up The Watch Folder

  • Click the Automations icon in the app.

  • On the Automations pop up, click the New Automation button.

MASV add new automation
  • On the next screen, select either Send or Upload to Portal automation.

Send Automation

This is useful if you have a MASV account and would like to set up a Watch Folder for your MASV Team. To set one up:

  • Click Send on the New Automation drop-down menu.

On the next page, fill out the following:

Set up a new watch folder in MASV desktop app
  • Automation Name: A custom name for your automation. This name will be displayed under the Automation list menu.

  • Team: The Team under which you want to set your automation.

  • Watch Folder: This is the location of the Watch Folder on your computer. You can set it up anywhere you want on your computer.

  • Upload Timer: The time of inactivity (in the Watch Folder) after which the app will start uploading the newly added folders.

  • Automatic Deletion: A toggle (off by default) which will delete the deliveries (folders) inside the Watch Folder automatically after they have been successfully uploaded.

  • Once all the fields are filled, click Continue.

On the next screen, fill out the following:

MASV Watch folder information
  • Recipient Email Address: The email address(es) of the recipient(s) of the deliveries of the Watch Folder contents. Max. 30 (or account limit).

  • Package Name Suffix (optional): If filled, a suffix will be added to each delivery's name after the package name (folder's name).

  • Message (optional): An optional message that will be added to the delivery and will be visible to the recipient in the delivery email as well as the download page.

  • Package Download Limit: The maximum number of times the recipient is allowed to initiate the download of the received package from this Watch Folder.

  • Custom Expiry: A custom deletion date for all the packages sent through this Watch Folder. Please note that Extended Storage charges are applied to deliveries stored for more than 7days*.

  • Download Password: If filled, the recipients will be required to enter a password on the download page.

Once all the fields are filled, click Create and your Watch Folder Automation is ready to use.

Each folder is uploaded as a separate package, so if you have several folders and files to be sent in a package, please make sure that you put all of them in a folder and then copy that folder in the Watch Folder.

*Please note: MASV Watch Folder only looks for folders not individual files in the base Watch Folder directory. When a folder is processed, the folder name will change based on the MASV process (uploading/complete).

Upload To Portal

This feature is for the users who frequently upload to MASV Portals and do not want to go through the process of visiting the Portal and filling out the fields every time.

Note: Watch Folders cannot send to a Portal that has a metadata form because the sender must fill out the form.

To set one up:

  • Click Upload to Portal on the New Automation drop-down menu.

On the next page, fill out the following:

MASV Watch Foler Setup to Upload to Portal
  • Automation Name: A custom name for your automation. This name will be displayed under the Automation list menu.

  • Portal Subdomain: The subdomain of the Portal URL that you received from the Portal owner.

  • Your Email: The email address of the Portal uploader.

  • Package Name Suffix (optional): If filled, a suffix will be added to each delivery's name after the package name (folder's name).

  • Message (optional): An optional message that will be added to the delivery and will be visible to the Portal owner in the delivery email as well as the download page.

Once all the fields are filled, click Create and your Watch Folder Automation is ready to use.

Each folder is uploaded as a separate package, so if you have several folders and files to be sent in a package, please make sure that you put all of them in a folder and then copy that folder in the Watch Folder.

Once the watch folder detects a folder copied into it, it will start uploading it and send you and the recipient notification emails once the upload finishes.

*Please note: MASV Watch Folder only looks for folders not individual files in the base Watch Folder directory. When a folder is processed, the folder name will change based on the MASV process (uploading/complete).
