# How Extended Storage works and what it costs
## MASV offers Extended Storage for your file transfers
Extended Storage refers to paid storage on the MASV Cloud beyond your free storage period. The MASV Cloud is the secure location where files are stored between the time they finish uploading and their expiry date. The number of free days of storage depends on your plan. MASV Extended Storage is reasonably priced and many users find it to be a helpful option when they need files to remain available for the duration of a project.
Storage duration is determined by the expiry date you set for a file transfer. There are a few places where the expiry date can be set or removed (Unlimited storage). After the expiry date, the corresponding files are deleted from MASV – we are not able to retrieve files that are expired and deleted.
#### How much does MASV charge for Extended Storage?
The fee for Extended Storage varies according to your plan. You are charged only for actual usage, so if you change your mind about when you want a file to expire or you delete a package manually, then you are billed only for the actual storage time beyond the free days of storage.
To give you an estimate of the cost at $0.07/GB-month (rate varies according to your plan), here is what it breaks out into at different storage amounts and duration:
- 1 gigabyte of data stored for 30 days will cost you $0.06
- 10 gigabytes of data stored for 30 days will cost you $0.58
- 100 gigabytes of data stored for 30 days will cost you $5.83
- 1000 gigabytes of data stored for 30 days will cost you $58.33
- 100 gigabytes of data stored for 60 days will cost you $12.83
**Math = ((GB data stored\*$0.07)/30)\*(days stored-5 days of free storage)**
